The Villa Real Hotel is housed in a renovated apartment block, which has a 19th-century neo-classical façade adorned with wrought iron balconies. The entrance, flanked by doormen, leads onto an intimate lobby, elegantly appointed with light wood panelling and marble floors. Other public areas, such as the lounge, are filled with wonderful antiques and mirrors, handsome rugs on marble floors, Roman mosaics and Greek ceramics. Somewhat unusually, the 115 soundproofed, spacious guestrooms are split-level, with a lounge on a different floor from the bedroom. All feature wooden floors, mahogany furniture and bright, well-equipped bathrooms with tub/shower combos. Decorated in a minimalist style, the East 47 Bar/Restaurant offers haute cuisine and a long cocktail list, allowing guests to enjoy a great meal while contemplating works of art by Andy Warhol. The hotel also offers a Continental style buffet every morning in its top floor breakfast room, which boasts wonderful views over Madrid.
