Some building work next door but they didn't start until around 8am. - no problem.
Top Tip
Unless you like Tapas it may take time to find a decent restaurant in the Hotel area.
But heh! Thats Madrid.
Use the Metro for Airport to the hotel - 10 minutes walk to Hotel and only cost 2 Euros

Area outside entrance a bit sleazy...would not recommend
walking alone at night..seemed
to be red light area. However during daylight hours ok.
However great base for shopping restaurants etc and right in centre...
Staff very helpful and hotel very clean and bright and comfortable. Breakfast excellent..However building work going on at moment so very noisy!!!!
Top Tip
Take the open top bus just around the corner on main street..E16 for one day pass..hop on and off all day.

Although the hotel is on a pretty dodgy side street, with a sex shop and lots of graffiti, it is a stone's throw from Gran Via and the Metro station, which is really easy to use. Ask for a room at the side or back but you need to specify if you want a non smoking room. I would have given a higher cleanliness score because on the whole the room and hotel was clean, but I found a pair of dirty socks (not ours!) under the bed!

Go to Botin, the oldest restaurant in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Use the Metro to get around cheaply, buy a 10 trip ticket to save money, you'll use it if you're there for a weekend.

I found Madrid full of Tapas bars and a lack of restaurants. The Barraca restaurant within 5 minutes walk from the hotel in Calle Reina is well worth a visit.
