Formerly the palatial residence of the Count of Burgallal, originally built in 1904, the Gran Hotel Canarias is an imposing traditional property. The medium sized lobby is appointed in a traditional style, with granite pillars, a marble tiled floor, leather seating and a wood panelled reception desk. The decor in the 116 guestrooms is classical in style, complemented by hand woven carpets, marble bathrooms and Bang & Olufsen LCD flat screen televisions. All are clean and well maintained, as are the tiled en suite bathrooms, which have showers, hair dryers, bidets and bathrobes. The hotel’s top-floor gym allows guests to work out while enjoying incomparable views of the city centre. The property also boasts two on-site eateries: Galdós restaurant and the Miró brasserie. The former serves seasonal cuisine in a relaxed environment adorned with paintings by Canarian artists. The latter features a unique fusion of modern and classic culinary styles, accompanied by an extensive wine list, with the possibility of alfresco dining on the terrace. There’s also a Continental style buffet breakfast on offer every morning in the brasserie.
