Location excellent and very clean. Hotel room smaller than expected - not suitable for relaxing-in during the day. Facilities limited - bar and lounge area always empty -no cosy atmosphere. Staff not very welcoming or friendly.Room PC did not work and wasn't fixed when reported. Some other noisy residents left continue to disturb other guests.
Top Tip
Walking distance to El Prado, Thyssen and shopping. Nice local cafes near buy that were good value for money and friendlier than hotel!

Excellent choice of breakfast foods. Rooms modern, bathroom very hip (his and her washhand basins.
Although a number of the staff speak English, they really appreciate if you at least attempt some Spanish - they help you out!

Excellent restaurant around the corner from the hotel - Casa Finca Susana. Cannot book - you queue outside until it opens at 20.30. Closes at 23.30. Great value for money - meal for four (3 courses including wine) for approx 90 euro - 15 pounds per head.
Prado Museum, Retiro Park, Botanical Gardens, Royal Palace all within easy walking distance from the hotel.

Our only reason for the medium score for facilities is that we would have preferred a proper hotel bar area. Hotel is really central to sights, shopping, eating and transport. Extremely clean but don't expect any views, we had one room with no window at all and the others overlooked the demolished walls of the building next door. Having said this it certainly did not cause any problems and we would recommend this hotel to others.

Excellent local Spanish bar with wicked tapas - out of hotel and turn to right then take first right. Bar is on the right hand side opposite a popular but pozzie restaurant. Highly recommend El Txistu restaurant for a 'posh' tapas meal, takes about 20 minutes in taxi but well worth it. Santa Ana square is worth going to in the evening, good restaurants and lots of fun. The Royal Palace is a great place, very over the top. Adjust your body clock and don't eat until at least 10.00pm in the evening and 3.00 in the day. You'll be more in tune with the locals by doing this.
